Founded by two friends, Paulo Bauer – one of the best toolmakers that Brazil has ever seen – and Raul Serpeloni – a percussionist and craftsman who was very respected in the Brazilian music scene – this company began its production in the Brin-Plas factory, in 1984, with the initial name of Raul instruments de Percussão.
It was the first factory in Brazil to develop instruments and hardware for drums with the type of quality and design unseen before in the country. In January 1995, Raul left the company and moved out of Sao Paolo, where the company continued building fine instruments with the founder Paulo Bauer and his children: Ricardo and Adriana Bauer.

The grandson of German immigrants and only son of the great toolmaker, Ricardo was practically raised around the machines and equipment of his father’s instrument factory. This exposure to these instruments, musicians and machines helped to develop what we call in Brazil "the passion virus".

Ricardo became responsible for the product development in 1990 and from this with enthusiasm and dedication he grew into the business and he knows and loves what he does better than anybody. Because of this, Ricardo realized that there was no reason for the factory to keep Raul’s name, so the company changed its’ name to the family name of the founder – Bauer.
In the year 2000, Bauer Percussion Ltda. was officially born.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The factory works in a very self-sufficient way with its own technology, serving both the national and international markets. In our wood and paint shop section, with the wide open space in both areas, it is possible to see all the machines and the many molds and tools to make the congas, bongos and drums.
The humidity control system runs a number of hothouses with different temperatures from storage, molding and drying the wood. In another section, the metal shop, casting, plating, design, assembling, printing, polishing, packing and shipping can be found. The whole system was projected and developed by Ricardo and his father, with detailed attention and in keeping with the highest quality standards in the production and final process of the instruments.
Bauer Percussion is one of the few industries that produce all items they build in the same place.

Bauer Percussion samba instruments are all made for export with a guarantee of very high quality, using our precised tuning hardware system made with exclusive materials along with beautiful finishes personalizing the instruments with a touch of class.
The result of all this work was the exportation that reached new markets around the world, shipping to the US, Japan and Europe – Germany, France, Ireland and Spain. Besides, Bauer is always present at the most popular instruments fairs in the world, like the Anaheim or the Frankfurt ones.
We are a very respected brand for musicians from different countries and cultures. For this reason, Bauer Percussion is present in the most diverse kinds of events, as the street Carnivals in Dublin and San Francisco, for example, or even the Samba Parade in Germany.
